Leadership Robert Blaunstein, Ph.D.
President
Dr. Blaunstein has over 30 years of scientific, insurance, and risk management experience related to environmental, health and safety exposures. He has lectured and been a consultant to government and industry leaders throughout the world.
He has published numerous articles for research journals, government publications and association newsletters on scientific matters and has written articles on nanotechnology and the environment, given lectures on the subject to insurance associations, and is currently writing a chapter entitled, “Nanotechnology and Insurance”, for a book to be published by an international nanotechnology association. Dr. Blaunstein’s career includes a professorship in the Department of Physics, University of Tennessee, and consultant to The Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where he conducted and published his research findings in atomic and molecular physics. This experience has provided the foundation for his technical knowledge about nanotechnology processes and products. Dr. Blaunstein was Vice President, Risk Assessment for AIG Consultants, American International Group, where he created AIG’s world-wide environmental consulting practice for environmental risk management and regulatory issues. He was Managing Director of Seneca Insurance Company’s environmental liability profit center, as well as technical director of environmental risk management and claims services. He has helped major investment banks and private equity firms specializing in real estate securitizations, loans, purchases and leases to understand environmental issues and take actions to limit potential exposures that could compromise their investments.
William (Sandy) Hauserman, JD, MSL
Senior Counsel Mr. Hauserman is Senior Counsel to Nanotech Risk Management. He has over 26 years of experience in the Property and Casualty insurance and reinsurance industry including negotiating insurance contracts, account management, underwriting, and providing internal legal advice. His experience also includes; drafting insurance contracts, writing business plans for start up operations, overseeing accounting and claims activity, and monitoring regulatory matters. He is an ARIAS, U.S. Certified Arbitrator. His focus is emerging issues of digital (cyber) risk, climate change, nanotechnology, e-waste and alternative energy. He has written numerous articles and given lectures on these topics, both for the insurance and reinsurance market. He is a principal of Stone River Consulting (SRC), which offers arbitration and expert witness services for reinsurance disputes. Prior to SRC, Mr. Hauserman was a Senior Vice President and Specialty Practice Leader at Marsh and McLennan Companies. |
